Welcome to Luther W. New Jr. Theological College
Luther W. New Jr. Theological College, popularly known as New Theological College or NTC, is an interdenominational, Evangelical, Charismatic/ Pentecostal theological College established in 1987 by Bharat Susamachar Samiti under the leadership of Rev. Dr. George and Mrs. Leela Chavanikamannil.
The College is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College (University) for MTh degree in New Testament, Old Testament, Mission, Christian Theology & Bachelor of Divinity (BD) degree and Diploma in Worship and Music (DWM) studies. It is also accredited by Asia Theological Association of India for Post Graduate and Doctoral Research Studies (PhD), Master of Theology (MTh), Master of Divinity (MDiv) & Bachelor of Theology (BTh), degree studies. In addition to these, for those who can read and write in Hindi and have a call for Christian ministry, the College offers a certificate course in Hindi called Certificate in Theology (CTh).
The vision of the College is to provide quality theological degree level education and ministerial training to those who are called out for Christian ministry in the church, institutions, and the society at large. By providing quality theological education, Christian ministerial and leadership training, we participate in the mission of God of building a new heaven and earth (2 Peter 3.13), a new creation (2 Corinthians 5.19), one new human, one new house hold in Christ without dividing, demeaning, damning walls of separation (Ephesians 3.15). Our vision is to see and experience one household of God (vasudevkutumbakam) in Messiah Jesus where there is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female; for all are one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3. 28)
Students from all Protestant Christian denominations who are called by God for ministry are admitted for training. Through its various degree, diploma, and certificate programs, the college is involved not only in Christian leadership training, but also in the nation building process. Indian Christianity is as old as Christianity itself, and therefore, it is important to sustain, build, and lead this community by training its leaders, so that the Christian community will continue to be the salt and light in Indian society.
The college is located in a 25 acre land on the northern side of the Dehradun city, the capital of Uttarakhand State. This state is known as the Devabhumi (the land of gods) in India. The cityis nestled in the mountain ranges of the Himalayas and is famous for its picturesque landscape and pleasant climate. It is well connected and in proximity to a popular Himalayan tourist destination called Mussoorie Hills. The natural beauty, the pleasant climate, and over 30 tourist destinations of Dehradun attract many people. Very close to the college lies the popular tourist spot called Sahastradhara (which literally means “the thousand fold springs”) which is known for its waterfalls, streams, caves, and scenic beauty. Dehradun is well connected with the rest of the country by air (Jolly Grant Airport), Railway Station and Interstate Bus Terminal.
Dehradun and Mussoorie are also known for their prestigious training institutions like IMA, ONGC, Survey of India, Forest Research Institute, Indian Institute of Petroleum, IAS Academy, etc. These are training institutions of national importance involved in nation building. We find it a privilege to be in this place to be involved in that task indirectly by training our community leaders who will in turn serve the Christian community that serves the nation and its peoples.
