PRACTICAL TRAINING
In the ministerial training front, in addition to lectures, seminars and library based learning; students are required to do practical training. Week-end and other long-outreach ministries in churches, schools, and hospitals, and in rural and urban communities through church related and other para-church and non-governmental organizations are coordinated by the Practical Training Department of the college.
Practical Training is an essential component of the program. Ministerial aspects shall be scrutinized resolutely in the course of instruction, so that appropriate issues become a part of the learning process. The college has the following practical training programs:
Concurrent Practical Training: During the weekends students are sent out to villages, schools, and hospitals and NGO’s with members of the faculty as advisors for social service and community development program. The student body is divided into various teams and encouraged to involve with pertinent social issues in the society through awareness program, relief and rehabilitation. The purpose of the training is to expose the students to the various aspects of community life and the issues in the society in grassroots.
Intensive Practical Training: The students in B.A./ B.Th. and B.D./M.Div. degree programs are required to complete twenty days of practical training under an approved supervisor either in an NGO which is working in the field of community development, or in a church setting, or any other approved setting during each summer vacation. Students are responsible to find out appropriate settings. After the completion of the exposure each student is required to submit a confidential report about their work from the concerned supervisor at the time of registration every year. The training programs are evaluated by the faculty. Favourable reports from the supervisors are necessary for graduation.
